"Legends of Puerto Rico, Inc. offers longer and more inventive tours, developed by Debbie Molina-Ramos, a great storyteller who is as passionate about her subject matter as she is professional."

It was such a pleasure meeting you for our Night Tour in Old San Juan. Having lived there for about 1 1/2 years and knowing a little about the history, I must say that you broaden my knowledge about the history of P.R. with all your stories. If only I would have had a History Teacher that was as passionate as you -maybe I would of liked history more. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour, walking in Old San Juan on the cobblestone streets, narrow sidewalks, the historical buildings which I remember seeing when living in San Juan but yet not knowing the history behind it and most of all having access to those buildings. Just fascinating! (Old Prison -I would of loved to go down underground to see what it looked like - but that's me - it's fascinating to see places like that). You are so passionate about it that I got very excited about learning more and just absorbed everything you said. Would of loved to listen to you all night about P.R. and it's history. We thank you very much for sharing your island
(my second home), your history, your passion with us. |
The tour's creator and guide is Debbie Molina Ramos and she is nothing if not passionate about her island and it's culture and history. She took our group of eight on a 2 mile walking tour around Old San Juan stopping at various points to give us facts, figures and a running history lesson. As a bonus, she also showed us the best place for photo ops and gave us hints as to where to stand to get the best shots.
She seems to know almost everyone in San
Juan, as people would call to her from their homes, cars and stores as
we walked through the city. A byproduct of this familiarity is that she
has permission to take her groups into places that are off limits to
other groups.
The tour lasts for about 2 hours and she
is effectively able to give a very nice overview of the history of San
Juan in that time.
After the tour we asked her to recommend
a place for tapas and she brought us to a very nice restaurant with an
outdoor courtyard overlooking the harbor. She even called ahead so the
sangria was waiting for us when we arrived. At our invitation, she
joined us for a couple of glasses and shared a little of her own history
including the years she spent in New York. Her stories were as
fascinating as her tour.
At $35. per person the tour was an
excellent value. The three caveats I'd pass on are:
1) San Juan can be hot and humid even in
February. Make sure to bring along some water.
2) Debbie moves along at a fairly quick
pace. Although it is mostly flat, wear appropriate footwear for walking.
3) Stay on the sidewalk! A popular
driving sport in San Juan seems to be how close you can get your car
mirrors to the building lining the street

Letter: We
enjoyed the Nights of Old San Juan tour we took on January 28th.
Debbie gave a very detailed description on history and events of San Juan.
The city was beautiful at night and we saw areas that we would not have
seen if not for the tour. Debbie is knowledgeable about the city and
makes it very interesting with the stories she tells of the events. You
can tell she is very proud of her home land as she should be. Again thanks
for making our trip to San Juan so enjoyable and we would recommend it to
everyone. |
