Customers TOUR Review & Survey 2008

Tour survey: Debbie was an great guide for our evening of learning about Puerto Rican rum and its history. She made the group feel comfortable and had a lively style. It was a lovely ending to our day of immersion in Old and New San Juan.  Kathleen Cunningham, Hotel guest, NJ Dec 17, 2009  San Juan Nights Tour

Tour survey: The San Juan Nights tour was a highlight of our stay in PR.  Great company, great rum and great food.  Initially I was a little disappointed that the tour was at Palio instead of a local restaurant, but the location did not ruin the quality of the night.  I will happily recommend this tour to anyone travelling to Old San Juan. Thank you. Aaron Mayers, Hotel guest, NY Dec 17, 2009  San Juan Nights Tour

Celebrating Kenny's birthday with the San Juan Nights rum tasting & dinner tour

“The rum tasting was a truly enjoyable and informative tour.  Debbie was very accommodating to all of us. The only improvement could have been that a little more food be served with so many rums being tasted. The food was fabulous. Would go back to the restaurant just for dinner. Please inform Debbie that Kenny not only liked the cake, but the whole experience. Thank you so much for a memorable evening.”  Sandy Lenoir, Hotel guest, Tennessee, NOV 24. 2008  San Juan Nights Tour

We also thought that the order of the stops seemed too random. Overall it was very good and would recommend it to others. Vincent Root, Hotel guest PA NOV 11, 2008 - Night Tales in Old San

Tour survey comments: We loved this tour and Debbie is a wonderful tour guide. It was a highlight of our cruise. Keep up the wonderful work! Susan Lisowski, VA, Carnival Miracle - June 21, 2008 -  Night Tales in Old San

Tour survey comments:  Jaime was very approachable, slowed down in areas he was showing us and helped take group pictures! He took us to interesting places, brought the bus closer when it started raining and made a leaf hat for several of us to try on and have photos taken. We really enjoyed his tour! On the bus, you may want to know that the 2nd seat from the back on the driver side, has a leaky window, which was discovered when it was raining. Otherwise, everything was great! Thank you for a super tour!  Andover College, Maine, Howard Johnson- June 20, 2008 - Private Yunque hiking trail

Tour survey comments: Jaime was very laid back and a lot of fun on our tour. He was very knowledgeable of the rain forest and the surrounding area. He went out of his way to make sure that everyone on the trip was having a great time and that all our needs were met. He is an asset to the company! Krista Greenleaf, Maine, Holiday Inn - June 20, 2008 - Jaime, tour guide  Private Yunque hiking trail

Tour survey comments: LOVED this tour and would highly recommend to anyone. Was a few minutes late because he thought we were at the cruise ship rather than the hotel. No big deal. Appreciated that he dropped us off at Old San Juan so we could do some shopping before returning to the ship. He made sure to give us good directions how to get back to the cruise terminal. Thanks so much for a fabulous day in the rainforest!!  Tamara Nix, Texas, Carnival Triumph - June 12, 2008 - Jaime, tour guide  Private Yunque hiking trail

Night Tales in Old San Juan - www.legendsofpr.comLetter: Good morning, Debbie!

It was such a pleasure meeting you for our Night Tour in Old San Juan. Having lived there for about 1 1/2 years and knowing a little about the history, I must say that you broaden my knowledge about the history of P.R. with all your stories.

If only I would have had a History Teacher that was as passionate as you -maybe I would of liked history more.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour, walking in Old San Juan on the cobblestone streets, narrow sidewalks, the historical buildings which I remember seeing when living in San Juan but yet not knowing the history behind it and most of all having access to those buildings. Just fascinating! (Old Prison -I would of loved to go down underground to see what it looked like - but that's me - it's fascinating to see places like that).

You are so passionate about it that I got very excited about learning more and just absorbed everything you said. Would of loved to listen to you all night about P.R. and it's history.

We thank you very much for sharing your island (my second home), your history, your passion with us.

Night Tales in Old San Juan - www.legendsofpr.comOn line review: Because our ship was in port from 5:00 PM till midnight on a Tuesday it was too late to get into the forts. Our group was looking for something to do that would be an alternative to the casino or Senor Frog's. We found this tour from a search on the web and read the additional comments on Tripadvisor

The tour's creator and guide is Debbie Molina Ramos and she is nothing if not passionate about her island and it's culture and history. She took our group of eight on a 2 mile walking tour around Old San Juan stopping at various points to give us facts, figures and a running history lesson. As a bonus, she also showed us the best place for photo ops and gave us hints as to where to stand to get the best shots.

She seems to know almost everyone in San Juan, as people would call to her from their homes, cars and stores as we walked through the city. A byproduct of this familiarity is that she has permission to take her groups into places that are off limits to other groups.
The tour lasts for about 2 hours and she is effectively able to give a very nice overview of the history of San Juan in that time.

After the tour we asked her to recommend a place for tapas and she brought us to a very nice restaurant with an outdoor courtyard overlooking the harbor. She even called ahead so the sangria was waiting for us when we arrived. At our invitation, she joined us for a couple of glasses and shared a little of her own history including the years she spent in New York. Her stories were as fascinating as her tour.

At $35. per person the tour was an excellent value. The three caveats I'd pass on are:

1) San Juan can be hot and humid even in February. Make sure to bring along some water.

2) Debbie moves along at a fairly quick pace. Although it is mostly flat, wear appropriate footwear for walking.

3) Stay on the sidewalk! A popular driving sport in San Juan seems to be how close you can get your car mirrors to the building lining the street

Night Tales in Old San Juan - www.legendsofpr.com

Letter:  We enjoyed the Nights of Old San Juan tour we took on January 28th.  Debbie gave a very detailed description on history and events of San Juan. The city was beautiful at night and we saw areas that we would not have seen if not for the tour.  Debbie is knowledgeable about the city and makes it very interesting with the stories she tells of the events. You can tell she is very proud of her home land as she should be. Again thanks for making our trip to San Juan so enjoyable and we would recommend it to everyone.
